I am fortunate enough to remember the brilliant Steve Allen and his guests, then Jack Parr (my fav), and Johnny Carson. They were the gold standard for comedy--and conversation. So grateful. And yes, glad to have read this evocative story of an imagined afterlife in the cosmic green room. Larry has used his years on this earth well. He's observed, paying kind attention to our many hopes, fears, and lapses in good judgment, plus a few outright hurts we inflict on others and ourselves. I have always imagined at my time to cross over, Walter Cronkite would knock on my door and offer to escort me to, let's just say "the beyond." I'd hope for a little space in the green room to compose myself to meet the "Big Guy." So many of those waiting in Larry's imagined green room were deeply human, hoping for the best, some coming to terms with their failures. Like them, I think I'd need some time to get ready and hope for the best. My true hope is that the Gospel, meaning Good News, good news that we are loved beyond measure and beyond our deserving, is true and applies to me.

Thanks, Larry. You enabled me to think--and feel on an ultimate question.

As always, I thoroughly enjoyed your story of souls. And once again your story made me pause ... and consider what my thoughts will be as I sit in that "green room".

I enjoyed reading these stories. It brought up different emotions. I hope there isn't a gatekeeper.

I would ask for mercy & hope whoever is there is in a generous mood that day.

I also believe mercy and forgiveness have been given.

4 Stars Larry

If I do have that final conversation I think I’ll just beg for mercy and see what happens.
